Last Tuesday, the Salt Lake City Council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance banning discrimination in housing and employment based on sexual orientation and gender identity.  The vote was spurred after the Church of Latter Day Saints issued a statement in support of the ordinance. “The church supports these ordinances,” LDS spokesman Michael Otterson told the council, “because they are fair and reasonable and do not do violence to the institution of marriage.” Salt Lake City becomes the first jurisdiction in the state of Utah to provide such protections.  Read the entire LDS ...
