Cliff Kincaid will never be described as an evil "genius."
Writing for Accuracy in Media, a right wing "media watchdog" funded by Richard Melon Scaife, Cliff takes on Newsweek with an article titled "Pro-Homosexual Media Going Bankrupt." As noted by Media Matters, Kincaid has frequently been factually challenged. He also has particular disdain for gay people having once said "His [Howard Dean's] success will depend on concealing the facts about Dean's homosexual experiment [which purportedly "implemented the homosexual agenda" in Vermont] -- and how he has used young people as sexual guinea pigs."
Getting back to the Newsweek article, it begins with "... Newsweek created a controversy with its laughably absurd cover story that the Bible supports homosexual marriage ..." Then it takes a very weird turn. Kincaid goes off on an incoherent and rambling homophobic rant. His apparently stored-up rage extends to:- Cynthia McFadden of ABC News for asking Bush about evolution.
- George Bush for "promoting the acceptance of homosexuality."
- Brack Obama who will "build and expand" upon the Bush legacy.
- Rick Warren for awarding Bush the “International Medal of Peace.”
- The Washington Post "which acts like an official organ of the homosexual rights movement,"
- Colin Powell who made a point of recognizing Michael Guest's partner when Guest was given the position of U.S. Ambassador to Romania.
- Condoleeza Rice for swearing in Mark Dybul, to be the global AIDS coordinator, and acknowledging his "partner."
- Laura Bush for "looking on with approval" at the swearing in of Dybul.
- Fox News for being a sponsor of this year’s National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association.
- CBS, CNN, ESPN, Gannett, Hearst Newspapers, NBC Universal, the McClatchy Company, the Washington Post, and Bloomberg for being sponsors of this year’s National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association.
- Fox News and NBC for being "strange bedfellows on the matter of gay rights. This crowd considers criticism of homosexuality a hate crime."
- The FoxNews.com website for running a "bizarre story on how 'journalists and activist groups' are blasting the Vatican for its 'grotesque' opposition to the pro-gay rights statement being considered by the U.N."
- The "homosexual rampage in California, following approval of the pro-traditional marriage Proposition 8."
- The perceived threat that "comes from the militant homosexuals, their media allies, and President-elect Barack Obama"
- Bush, again, for courting the Log Cabin Republicans
- Larry Craig
- Barney Frank, digging up Frank's lapse of judgment with a gay prostitute -- and so on, and so on.
And who does Kincaid have admiration for? But of course, The Little "Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth has documented how the media have a deliberate policy of not reporting anything that puts homosexuals in a bad light."
