Boot Camp: Lessons in Ignorance [VIDEO]
Behold the mighty army of the future. These children are being victimized to advance an agenda that includes prejudice and ignorance. What is most abhorrent about this indoctrination is not that these kids are being compelled into embracing Creationism. Rather, it is the promotion of the idea that science, and empirical evidence, are subordinate to scripture. These children are essentially being "educated" not to be critical thinkers Their natural gift of intellectual curiosity is being squandered so that they may be the holy warriors of the future.
It becomes remarkably easy to understand why people are willing to dismiss the published and peer reviewed scientific conclusions of groups like the American Psychological Association. It is equally simple to appreciate how individuals can be seduced by astonishingly transparent scams like the "Ex-Gay" movement. The ideology, ingrained in early childhood, explains a willingness to accept obviously flawed and widely discredited "research" such as that produced by Paul Cameron. It also explains how people like Tony Perkins can promote such findings when he knows that they are flawed and misleading.
Even more disturbing, one must ask two questions: "Where is the line?" and "Is there a line at all?" When a group intentionally creates these robo-props, how great is the gap between "the literal word of God" and violence?. Just how far is the leap to doing things like murdering abortion providers or doing violence to GLBT people?
At the top of the Christian Right pyramid are powerful millionaires; preachers like Wildmon and generals like Dobson.. Their true "mission" is to accrue wealth and political power. Ultimately it is greed and politics which drives the Christian Right. These kids are just collateral damage.
This hard-to-watch footage is from Alexandra Pelosi's fine documentary film, Friends of God.
