Schmuck of the Week: Robert P. George
In addition to being a professor at Princeton University and Chairman of the Board of the National Organization for Marriage, Robert George is the founder of the American Principles Project. Not surprisingly, the head of Opus Dei's Witherspoon Institute, Luis E. Tellez, serves on the Boards of both NOM and APP.
The following websites seem to have been created in June:
All three of these sites seem to be fixated on Kevin Jennings. That is somewhat secondary to the real problem. In a video at the Preserve Innocence website, Robert George says:
Children don’t need to be learning about homosexual practices in elementary school
Implicit in that statement is the rhetoric of hate: "Gays are out to recruit your children." What makes this even more offensive is that George is leveraging the credibility of his position at Princeton University to cloak his hate as something good and patriotic.
Suppose George made similar arguments about blacks or Jews lusting after white women or controlling the media respectively. Would the university react differently? I have asked officials at Princeton that question while providing copies to the University's LGBT organization. I'll let you know if they respond. While I fully support the idea of academic freedom, it is not unlimited.

Robert George is dead on in many ways with respect to same-sex marriage and abortion issues. Thank heaven for people that are still willing to stand up for morality and families in America. George says "Children don’t need to be learning about homosexual practices in elementary school." David Hart responds "Implicit in that statement is the rhetoric of hate: 'Gays are out to recruit your children.'" If I had children I certainly would not want them learning about homosexual practices in elementary school. There is no rhetoric of hate here, merely a strong opinion which supports George's morals and values.
