Michael Schwartz: "Homosexuality is inflicted on people"
Michael Schwartz is Sen. Tom Coburn's [R-OK] Chief of Staff. The children of Oklahoma are poorly educated (more information below the video). Apparently, that abysmal ignorance extends to Mr. Schwartz. Maybe it's the water. Perhaps it is a contagion. Either way, ThinkProgress caught some rather moronic statements from Schwartz at the Value Voters Summit.
But it is my observation that boys at that age have less tolerance for homosexuality than just about any other class of people. They speak badly about homosexuality. And that’s because they don’t want to be that way. They don’t want to fall into it. And that’s a good instinct. After all, homosexuality, we know, studies have been done by the National Institute of Health to try to prove that its genetic and all those studies have proved its not genetic. Homosexuality is inflicted on people.
Schwartz then recalled “a very good friend” of his “who was in the homosexual lifestyle for a long time,”
And one of the things that he said to me, that I think is an astonishingly insightful remark. He said, “all pornography is homosexual pornography because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards. Now think about that. And if you, if you tell an 11-year-old boy about that, do you think he’s going to want to go out and get a copy of Playboy? I’m pretty sure he’ll lose interest. That’s the last thing he wants.” You know, that’s a, that’s a good comment. It’s a good point and it’s a good thing to teach young people.
It gets worse from there. This is nothing new for Schwartz who, in 1987, alleged that the gay community was “using the AIDS crisis to pursue [their] political agenda.” This nitwit has not improved with age.
Speaking of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, a conservative public policy research organization commissioned a study aimed at determining the level of basic civics knowledge of Oklahoma High School students. To their dismay the study revealed that only 23% of students knew that our first President was George Washington and only 2.8% of the students scored well enough on the test to be eligible for US citizenship. 39% could not properly name the Atlantic Ocean as the body of water on the east coast of the US.
