And They Wonder Why We Think They're CRACKPOTS

Submitted by David Hart on Mon, 07/20/2009 - 00:07

According to his bio at examiner.com, John Rackliffe "is a born again Christian living and working in Charleston, SC. A freelance writer, John desires to share his love of Jesus Christ with others through writing and civil discussion." I'm not really sure what Rackliffe considers a "civil discussion." However, it seems fair to suggest that most people wouldn't think that an article titled The homosexual agenda, 'out of the closet' and after your children is a portrayal of civility. Ordinarily, I wouldn't pay much attention to a nobody gasbag like Rackliffe. However, he demonstrates the spectacular ignorance of the right wing's constituency. Rackliffe goes on to write:

The homosexual agenda to re-educate your children and remove the bigotry we parents have placed into their innocent minds is “out of the closet.” President Obama’s appointment of gay activist Kevin Jennings to a senior post in the Dept. of Education a few weeks ago was one of a number of recent events which reveal a more aggressive move to push homosexual issues into the minds of young children. Here are a few current initiatives underway this summer:

Parents, we must pray without ceasing for our children.   We must raise our own awareness to what the public school system is telling our children about homosexual and transgender subjects even in kindergarten! If we are financially able, we should put our children in private schools or teach them ourselves at home. Our attendance at PTA and school board meetings must be active and vocal. We must demand from our teachers their curricula and book lists for review. Research the authors and read the text books. Finally, we must vote out of office at all levels any politician involved in supporting any portion of the gay rights agenda.

In other words, Rackliffe's agenda is to perpetuate bigotry cloaked in religion. This is accomplished by intentionally dumbing down our children and crushing any intellectual curiosity that they might have. It is unfortunate that guys like this get to breed. It will be even more unfortunate if this nitwit has a gay child. What will he do when the reorientation therapy not only doesn't work but creates yet another neurotic adolescent with little chance for meaningful achievement? Having said that, what about his neighbor's gay kids or the gay people that he comes into contact with every single day?

Typical.  Blah blah we don't want homosexuals to be bullied (when we call you names and tell you to burn in hell it isn't bullying, we're preaching "god's word").  We just don't want them to have anything resembling rights because we don't consider them as human as us.  We also want to psychologically, spiritually and even physically bully them into pretending they're straight to please us--regardless of the harm it causes them--but we loooove them.

Pardon me while I puke.

Buffy,

You sound very angry and unhappy.  As a Christian, I serve God and I believe what He says to be true.  In addition, He requires that I love my fellow man.  I take that seriously and when I speak the truth it is done in love.  However, when I give my views on this subject, I am called a bigot and in this case a bully by the opposition.  If you choose the homosexual lifestyle, I cannot change your mind.  But when a group or a special interest tries to force my children to agree with their lifestyle through deceptive methods, then I will speak out.

I believe both sides could have a dialog about the issues especially when it comes to the bullying part.  If any one is abusing another for any reason that is wrong. However, the way to change things is not to deceive little children and undermine parental authority for raising their children in the manner they see fit,  Neither the education system nor the LGBT community will be there to pick up the pieces of my children's lives when they make a bad choice.  All I am asking is that your cause does not try to destroy what I have spent my life to build, the proper moral character of my children.

John

You indoctrinated your children to believe in invisible magical beings and you're preaching to me about decieving them?  Get real.  Stop pretending you care a whit about anything other than forcing your rigid chosen moral agenda on the world.  I was born gay.  Nobody is born Christian.  Of gays and Christians which of us has "missionaries"?  I thought so.

David,

Thanks for looking at my article and for your comments.  Obviously we disagree on what is right and wrong with respect to morality and the raising of our children.  I have seen the devastation of the homosexual lifestyle as I watched a neighborhood friend slowly die from the ravages of AIDS.  I sat with his mother as she wept over the loss of her son.  I know that he spent the latter part of his life returning to God and I pray that he trusted Jesus Christ for his salvation and when he died and joined Him in heaven.

I don't want children to be exposed to anything about homosexuality in Kindergarten, they are too young.  I especially am opposed to that indoctrination when it is disguised as something good (preventing school violence).  Further I do not want anyone bullyed including homosexuals under any circumstances.  I trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ only to save me and you from our sins.  I do not care about political agenda conservative or liberal and I care even less for religion.

I believe we could have a mutually beneficial and civil discussion of this matter and perhaps reach common ground.  A good start would be not assuming that I am a bigot because I believe homosexuality to be a sin and not a civil right.

John
